Land Rover – Surviving the Tata Takeover
Jaguar & Land Rover owner Tata Motors decided to cut production back one day a week at their plant in Solihull, West Midlands UK, for concerns of economic downturn and lower automotive sales. Vehicles will be produced on their assembly line from Monday through Thursday, and that this change would take place “immediately.” Beginning in October, Tata plans to halt night time and some overtime production, also to help cut costs. Although, a spokesperson for Tata claims this cut in production will not derail overall output of vehicles. Many companies throughout North America have recently implemented four day work weeks for the sake of employee mental health.
